Origin Story
You know the phrase, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Well, that’s wrong!
Cosmo the Sheepdog was born in Charlottesville, VA in 1997! For years, Cosmo entertained kids all over — from parades, to baseball games to the Special Olympics. Cosmo is one of a kind!
Not to brag — okay, maybe a little — Cosmo was nominated for the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2022!
June 20, 2026
It was a beautiful June day in the Queen City. Cosmo traveled all the way to Charlotte from Charlottesville, VA to help his friends at the Knothole Foundation with a new program — Mascot STEAM. Created and led by Joby Giacalone, Mascot STEAM launched at The Stick in front of excited kids and parents.

After the Event
Over the next few days, Cosmo decided he needed a new home and Charlotte was a perfect place. If only there was an organization interested in a dog like Cosmo. Enter the Knothole Foundation.
