[WEST CHARLOTTE, NC] –The Knothole Foundation is pleased to announce that it will be donating a significant portion of its infield dirt at the Richard “Stick” Williams Dream Fields and Education Center to the West Mecklenburg High School baseball program. The contribution comes as the Knothole Foundation begins the transformation of its home infield to a brand-new, state-of-the-art turf surface.

With construction now underway, the Knothole Foundation is committed to repurposing the high-quality infield material by directing it to local schools in need. West Meck Baseball is the first beneficiary of this effort.

“Helping young athletes and supporting baseball programs is at the core of our mission,” said Tommy Viola, Knothole Foundation Chief Communications Officer. “As we move to turf, we saw an opportunity to ensure this dirt continues to support player development. West Meck’s program is growing, and we’re proud to lend a helping hand to our neighbors.”

The Knothole Foundation’s field turfing project will be completed in early 2026, in time for the opening of the Queens University Baseball team’s 2026 season. Queens will open its 2026 baseball season on its home field at the Richard “Stick” Williams Dream Fields and Education Center on Friday, February 13. The new Knothole Foundation turf surface will also be home to many youth baseball programs throughout each year.

As progress continues, additional local baseball programs may receive redistributed material and resources.
