The Knothole Foundation is proud to celebrate Girls and Women in Sports Day today (February 4), and is also thrilled to hightlight its newest front office member, Gerlea Patton.
Patton was recently hired by the Knothole Foundation as the organization’s Girls in Sports Programming Director, a key leadership role dedicated to expanding athletic opportunities, mentorship, and engagement for girls across the Charlotte community.
In this role, Patton leads the design, growth, and implementation of girls-focused programming, including clinics, tournaments, educational workshops, and partnership-driven events. She also works closely with community organizations, schools, and local leaders to strengthen pathways for girls to participate and excel in sports.
Patton brings a strong background in youth development, program leadership, and sports-based community initiatives. Her passion for empowering young women through athletics aligns with the Knothole Foundation’s mission to create inclusive, accessible, and impactful sports experiences for all youth.
A graduate of Queens University, Patton was a key member of the school’s softball team. In 2022, Patton led Queens in stolen bases with 30 on the season.

The recent addition of Patton marks a significant step in the Knothole Foundation’s ongoing commitment to equity, access, and youth development in the Charlotte region.
