The Knothole Foundation is hosting a one-day collection drive where individuals and organizations can drop off non-perishable food items.
Date: Saturday, December 6th
Time: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: 7531 Tuckaseegee Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214 (Knothole Foundation – Tuckaseegee Dream Fields)
At the Knothole Foundation, our mission is to build Major League Citizens by providing critical academic support and life skills development to underserved youth. We believe success starts with security.
This belief drives our Feeding Our Future Holiday Food Drive, which addresses an immediate crisis facing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) students and families. The need for basic support is staggering: Nearly 6,000 CMS students have been identified as experiencing homelessness under the McKinney-Vento Act as of June, according to district data. These students rely heavily on school meals and face significant food insecurity when schools close for the extended holiday break. By providing food security, we are directly fulfilling our mission to give these youth the foundational support they need to succeed and thrive. Join us in our effort to bridge this gap and ensure no student goes hungry this holiday season!
We are currently collaborating with our CMS school partners and organizations like the Freedom Fighting Missionaries to identify the most impacted schools and maximize the effect of every donation.
All donations collected on December 6th will be sorted and distributed to local partner schools the week of December 15th for immediate delivery to students in need before the holiday break begins.
We are requesting items that are easy for students to prepare and store.
Have questions about the drop-off process, requested items, or how your organization can partner with us? Please reach out to Gerlea Patton at GerleaPatton@knotholecarolinas.org.
